While most training businesses and government professionals relegate Executive Core Qualifications to SES (Senior Executive Service), PowerSkills believes that ECQs apply to the development of every government professional. Therefore, we reference them and link content to them in every course, so that every government professional realizes that their development is in support of their agency efforts to Lead People, Be Results Driven, Develop Business Acumen, Lead Change, and Build Coalitions.

Competencies offer professionals a common core of knowledge, skills, and abilities; a baseline from which a professional can assess strengths and growth gaps, create developmental and application plans, acknowledge accountabilities, be monitored and evaluated, and receive recognition and rewards. PowerSkills builds each course upon the foundation of Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Competencies. We use the OPM Framework Fact Sheet and MOSAIC Framework to design each course so that consistency is offered, standards are established, the bar is raised, and course work can be focused on the development and demonstration of aptitudes.

Classification Connection

Because each GS position classification has unique developmental needs our course descriptions provide a notation about which classification the course supports. Look for the “classification connection” in each course description.

2-5 Day Comprehensive Seminars (Onsite or Virtual)

Comprehensive Seminars provide professionals with essential content and competencies pertaining to a topic, fundamental practices, application activities, problem-solving opportunities, practice and planning exercises, self-reflection exercises, peer advising and coaching support, as well as in-depth explanations of the rationale for concepts, practices, and applications. PowerSkills seminars are delivered in workshop formats so that students are actively engaged in developing real-world skills through classroom activities.

Micro-Trainings (Virtual)

Micro-Trainings are 90-minute, live, interactive virtual classes that focus on the practical application of specific concepts, models, tools, methods, and practices. Micro-training is great for professionals who have education, experience, and technical expertise, but may need a training refresher or some practical tools that bring theory into practice. They are also great for emerging leaders and new professionals who may never have received specific training in areas of leadership, management, or general professionalism in the workplace. If your people are so busy that taking a day or two for training is too much to bear, then a micro-training series may be just the ticket to their success…and yours! We offer packages of 6, 9, and 12 classes.
